Elderly Woman Dies In Farmers Branch House Fire

Fire crews spent Thursday night into Friday morning on the scene of a deadly blaze at a home in Farmers Branch. The flames started around 9:00 p.m. and an 86-year-old woman living inside was killed. Farmers Branch police officers were the first to arrive on the scene and found the home fully involved with smoke and flames pouring out.

Rich Harden Agrees To 1-Year Deal With Rangers

Rich Harden and the Texas Rangers completed a one-year contract Thursday that guarantees the pitcher $7.5 million. The deal calls for a $6.5 million salary next year and includes an $11.5 million mutual option for 2011 with a $1 million buyout. Harden can earn an additional $2.5 million next year in performance bonuses.

Dallas Declines Hinojosa’s Contract Extension

Escorts Dallas school trustees, for the second straight year, declined to extend the contract of Superintendent Michael Hinojosa. His current agreement ends in 2012. Hinojosa’s annual evaluation was Thursday. He did not seek a contract extension.

Keller Board Approves Elementary Boundary Change

The Keller school board unanimously approved a rezoning plan Thursday night that has been months in the making.  The changes will mean a new school for some elementary students who live feet from a nearby school.
